  • "There's no doubt about it: last night was a huge triumph for all of the lads," Pakistan's bowling coach adds.
  • According to Philander, it [New Zealand] will be another important game, and the guys will hopefully have a fresh start and be ready and motivated.

SHARJAH: Pakistan's bowling coach Vernon Philander claimed on Monday that his squad has already put their historic victory over India "behind them" as they prepare to play New Zealand, less than 48 hours after claiming their first-ever victory over their neighbors in the T20 World Cup in Sharjah.

"Obviously, the team put up a fantastic effort yesterday," Philander said of the 10-wicket victory in Dubai.

"I believe it is also the result of some hard effort over the last two and a half weeks." As a result, the lads are in a good place."

In their second encounter in the Super 12 round, Pakistan will take on the Black Caps in Sharjah on Tuesday. Pakistan won the World Cup in 2009.

"We have stressed the significance of being firmly planted in one's own reality," stated the former South African fast bowler.

To be clear, last night's victory for all of the lads was a significant one.

"However, we have a competition coming up, and the lads will remain focused on that." Really, today's team meeting was about putting yesterday night's events behind us and concentrating on what is clearly going to happen tomorrow."

"It's going to be another important game, and hopefully the lads will come back refreshed, prepared, and motivated."

Pakistan's victory against India was the country's first in 13 efforts at a World Cup since 1992, having previously lost seven matches in the 50-over competition and five in the Twenty20 competition.

The Pakistani bowlers, headed by Shaheen Shah Afridi, earned accolades from Philander for limiting India to a below-par total of 151-7 in their 20 overs.

With his first seven deliveries, Shaheen Shah was able to remove India openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. "He (Shaheen) is such a tremendous talent," Philander said of the towering left-armer, who also dismissed India's other opener, KL Rahul.

In the following overs, he claimed the wicket of India captain Virat Kohli, finishing with statistics of 3-31 and winning the Man of the Match award.

The Australian coach, Philander, remarked, "You have to make sure you encourage him to keep doing what he's doing." "He was outstanding against India."

Pakistan will resist the temptation to change their winning team against New Zealand, although they may choose to put in left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz instead of a fast bowler in the match.

Graeme Philander, 36, announced his retirement from international cricket last year after 64 Tests, 30 One-Day Internationals, and seven Twenty20 Internationals in his career.

Following the resignation of Pakistan legend Waqar Younis, he was chosen as bowling coach for the World Cup earlier this month.
